[BAND] DIRTY VEGAS
After a 4 year hiatus the iconic Grammy Award winning UK band, Dirty Vegas are back!
(no relation) on percussion and production, along with the distinctive vocal talents of Steve Smith; Dirty Vegas exploded onto the scene in 2002 with their self-titled debut album, earning massive commercial success, along with unanimous critical acclaim.
Featuring the legendary ‘Days Go By’ and ‘Ghosts’, the collection made a huge impact upon its arrival, landing at Number 7 in the Billboard 200, and sold close to a million records worldwide and received glowing reviews from the likes of Rolling Stone and Q Magazine. No mean feat for a predominately ‘dance’ oriented band.
The 2nd album ‘One’ followed in 2004 on Parlaphone and was more of guitar band affair featuring the massive hit ‘Walk into the Sun’ and was coupled with a huge global tour.
Fast forward to present day and the guys have signed an album deal with UK institution Toolroom Records and with pen to paper, hi-hat to kick drum, guitar riff to bass line, they’re working on a new album.
The album will be more band orientated with a full on worldwide tour to follow. Toolroom Records say…
“We’re very proud to be associated with one of the worlds finest dance bands, Dirty Vegas.
I remember the day that ‘Days Go By’ hit the No. 1 spot in the USA & never did I think that one day, Steve, Paul & Ben would be releasing such quality music on our label.
Toolroom have worked with Paul Harris from the start, so when we heard of the reform we started talking and the band decided that Toolroom were the right partners for them to re-launch into the market.
So, our label is now knocking on the door of all the majors out there! It’s very exciting times indeed for Toolroom Records and for Dirty Vegas!”
Whereas the album will be more song driven, in the meantime, Dirty Vegas have gone back to their roots and released their first dance single ‘Pressure’ on Toolroom. A seriously heavy hitter that has grabbed tastemaker Pete Tong by the short and curlies; gaining repeated plays on Radio 1’s Essential Selection, and becoming the certified smash hit of this year’s prestigious Amsterdam Dance Event proving the band has lost none of its magic.
The track has been remixed by Montreal’s eminent DJ Sultan and his production partner Ned Shepard, who themselves, are responsible for setting Beatport’s Top 10 Chart on fire recently with 3 consecutive tracks and have been turning heads in every corner of the globe.
Steve, says “After we (Dirty Vegas) decided to start working together again for a new record, that took us back to our ‘house’ roots; there was only one label that could be our new home...Toolroom!”
“During my solo years from Dirty Vegas, making loads of club tracks, I started a great relationship with Mark, Owen and all at Toolroom. So when Dirty Vegas decided to get back together and go more ‘clubby’, Toolroom was the obvious choice.
There is a 2nd single in the pipeline called 'Changes' which will drop March / April just in time for the WMC.
