The sun is out, summer has arrived, so it must be time for a scorching summer anthem from Freemasons. 'Tears' featuring Katherine Ellis is their brand new and already acclaimed club anthem from Brighton's favourite (and Grammy nominated) producers/ remixers. Tears is based around an incredible vocal performance from long term collaborator and friend
At the time of press 'Tears’ was No1. in UK Music Week Club and Pop Charts and Cool Cuts - a perfect return to form.
After being inspired by recent and incredible changes within video technology, the boys formed Freemaison Productions in early 2013
with the sole purpose of self-producing, directing and editing their own videos for key releases.
The release of Tears coincides with the release of their first full motion music video...
Also this month the Freemasons are remixing the second John Newman single in the UK, their earlier 2013 Club release ‘Bring it Back’ is currently used on the latest Phones 4U campaign (also backed up with their first foray into video - a much loved and almost -kaleidoscopic stop-motion video...Check it here!
James Wiltshire explains: “What initially started with a brief video experiment soon turned into a full-blown love affair with video and the processing and editing software that has changed the face of the industry. We learnt every trick we used on the Tears video via either Youtube, Vimeo or online tuition courses and if we can do it, imagine what the new generation coming through will be able to do in the coming years."
The boys are also primed for the first full vocal release from their stunning new Electronica project Pegasus.
Russell explains: "During the height of Electro and Dubstep a few years back we took a step away from the frontline to go in completely the opposite direction - to create a new project that's mostly song based and musically stunning.
Since then we've written nearly an albums' worth of material and we are very proud of the results - the first full release will be in the next few months featuring a brilliant young singer Chloe Wolf.
With both projects remixing each other it's also going to be a fantastic year for our label Freemaison."
Freemasons normally need little introduction musically - the award winning duo have a long lineage of five Top 20 international hits behind them including ‘Love On My Mind', ‘Rain Down Love’, ‘Heartbreak’ and the sublime ‘Uninvited’. They were heavily involved in R+B's transition to Dance with early and incredible (and international No.1) remixes for Beyonce, Shakira, Kelly Rowland and Faith Evans.
They are still considered by many industry insiders to be the best remixers in the world.
A lot has changed in the eight years since Freemasons began their career but one thing has not - the music and the public's response to it.
Or as James put it recently "We've always been about that moment a huge vocal note crosses a bar-line, hits the chord change just right and the hairs come up on your arms.
We're with Nile Rogers - it's about how a record makes you feel that’s important."he added.
