New unit to be called Live Nation Entertainment

Two of the biggest forces in the entertainment business are joining up.

Concert promoter Live Nation Inc. and ticketing giant Ticketmaster Entertainment Inc. said Tuesday morning that they plan an all-stock merger of equals.

The combined company will be called Live Nation Entertainment.

Ticketmaster sells tickets for more than 80 percent of the major arenas and stadiums in the U.S., according to concert tracking firm Pollstar.

Live Nation is the world's No. 1 concert promoter and owns more than 140 venues.

It has comprehensive deals to the tours of such artists as Madonna, Jay-Z, U2, Nickelback and Shakira - and recently developed its own ticketing service.

JUICY BEACH AT THE WMC:
HERE WE COME!

Next month sees the electronic dance music industry’s annual decamp to mighty Miami, for the Winter Music Conference.

The big joke being that word ‘Winter has as little relevance to Miami as other, often associated ones like ‘ice’ and ‘snow’ and ‘ freezing misery’!

Instead it’s all sun, sun, sun and party, party, party!

DJ Observer will be there, of course, playing at Robbie Rivera’s Juicy Beach party on the 28th, which also features a multitude of other acts including Axwell & Tocadisco.

If you’re planning a financial crisis-bucking trip, he’d very much like to see you there!

Interview with Talla2XLC and Robert Burian

How’s it going fellas?
T: Very good indeed. I had a hectic start to 2009.
RB
: I am fine too, thanks! Busy, but, as always, busy means good!
So, Talla, what prompted this new production partnership?

T
: I met Robert, when I played in Bratislava, Slovakia last year. We had a chat backstage, and quickly recognised a musical connection.

A few weeks later I signed two tracks from him "Doom" and ‘Cobra‘ for Tetsuo.

I emailed him a few times about working together, he liked the idea and the rest is future-history!

Robert, we’ve started seeing you name popping up
. What’s driven that?

RB
: Well, its hard to explain really, because a lot of things have happened so randomly. A fair amount of it probably has to do with pure ‘application‘!

In 2008 I was in the studio every single week of the
year! I love doing music and my name is coming up because the sound, I think, is something new.

What are the first tracks coming to fruition from the pair of you then?

T
: The first co-op was 2XLC’s new track Dante´s Peak. Robert and I did a harsh, pumping electro-progger and Jerome Isma-ae did the remix.

A really great job he did too Armin‘s played it three time in a row at ASOT!

Our next steps are an uplifting trance project named T`N`R (standing, as you can probably guess, for Talla and Robert).

The debut is called ‘Sound of the Crowd‘ and then it’ll be the follow-up 2XLC single, ‘Pulse

Generally-speaking, what sub-style of
trance do you think best sums up your output
?

T
: I like to mix up plenty of genre types! I like music ‘both ways‘, low tempo 128-132 groovy electroish
floorburners or uplifting 136 - 139 big-room anthems.

Minds wide open mate!

We want to surprise the people.
With our collective creative brains together, nothing can really stop us!

RB
: I can’t say there is a sub-style which is the best for us. It depends on many things. So if we feel we want to make a tune for a big room then we will do it. If we feel something different then we will create something else you know.

But wait! There’s a name for our output: Nu-Trance!

OK! So artist album or compilation Which one are you going to do first!?

T
: First we will do several projects throughout the year and then decide for which one of them we´ll do bigger releases than singles.

And now he’s back, bright and early in 2009, with an absolute scorcher on the fighting-fit Tetsuo label.

With its ear-snagging sounds and speaker-grazing effects, and coming under Fred’s newPresents Enterprise’ tag, ‘Requiem’ has been doing a fine job of sending dancefloors into spontaneous combustion over the last month!
