Executive upped to oversee BMG, Legacy outfit

Adam Block has been charged with overseeing the catalog operation of Sony BMG, Legacy Recordings.

Block has been named senior VP-general manager, Legacy Recordings, reporting to John Ingrassia, president of Sony BMG Music Entertainment's Commercial Music Group.

Since 2004, Block has served as senior VP, marketing-general manager of Legacy.

He has worked for Legacy since 1992, holding the titles of veep, senior director and director of marketing.

He began his career in 1988 as a staff writer and photographer for EMI Records' Press and Publicity department.

Yay, it's out but it's also the silly season in record land so you'll need to look behind the rows stacked with dad compilations, Leona Lewis and Now That's What I Call Music CDs and hunt down the beautifully created album by The Whitest Boy Alive.

Not only is it a perfect record for winter, the artwork was created by Geoff McFetridge (he who worked with the likes of Spike Jonze & Sophia Coppola and designed the Boycott Esso campaign). It even includes a pull out poster.

Obviously it's on iTunes too, but can we ask you for a favour? If you go to a store and don't see it let them know you want it so we can muscle in as a collective posse. Apparently it's too 'indie' for the Xmas punter...what a load of rubbish.

Also, remember their show is on February 7th. It's definitely going to sell out soon (700 tix have already been sold) so if you'd like to go we'd recommend buying a ticket soon.

Also, all the DJs will be playing a 30 minute disco set in a top secret room with Karl 'Stevie' Lagerfeld. We're not gonna tell you where it is, you gotta find it.

Gonna be massive. First 400 in get special 3D glasses for the customised visuals throughout the club.

New Janet Jackson Album Due In February Borys Kit, The Hollywood Reporter

Janet Jackson's as-yet-untitled debut album for Island Def Jam will be released in February. The artist is also prepping a worldwide tour to promote the follow-up to 2006's "20 Y.O." In addition, Jackson has signed with the William Morris Agency for representation in all areas. Jackson comes to the company after a starring role in Tyler Perry's hit "Why Did I Get Married?" She will be repped by a team of agents led by Dave Wirtschafter and Charles King that will run across multiple divisions of the agency, including film, touring, licensing and merchandising, television, theater, publishing and new technology. Jackson said she was attracted to the agency because of its long history. She continues to be repped by managers Johnny Wright and Kenneth Crear as well as attorney Don Passman. As for Jackson's new album, it is being executive produced by Def Jam CEO Antonio "L.A." Reid rather than Jackson's boyfriend, Island Urban president Jermaine Dupri.

What an autumn it's been for us here at Lovebox. Following Groove Armada's sold out 10th anniversary 'GA10' UK tour, which we wrapped up with one seriously good (and seriously over subscribed, sorry if you were locked out!) after party in London, we bring more good tidings your way - in the shape of a December Winter Ball AND a new 12 inch featuring four remixes AND some hot sounds for the cold winter months in the shape of a free downloadable mix from Severino taken from the epic June Boat Party.

Andy, Tom and The Lovebox Allstars partied on with a smashin' crowd at the sold out after party at Brixton's Dex Club. The loft room was beautifully warmed up by daddy disco, Frank Tope, before The RGB's performed their unique synthy electro pop, taking to the stage like fluorescent ducks to water. The US soul legend Gwen McCrae then stepped up to the mic and rare grooved some fancy footwork while she belted out her house hits. Her dynamic set had the crowd on their knees and eating out of the hands of the hosts, who DJd to the early hours.

Kevin Dubrow, 52, Quiet Riot frontman

Singer found dead in Las Vegas home

Kevin Dubrow, lead singer for the 1980s heavy metal band Quiet Riot, was found dead Sunday in a Las Vegas home. He was 52.

The cause and manner of death were not immediately known, pending an autopsy and toxicology results, said the Clark County Coroner’s Office. Quiet Riot was perhaps best known for its 1983 cover of the song “Cum on Feel the Noize.”

"I can't even find words to say," Banali wrote. "Please respect my privacy as I mourn the passing and honor the memory of my dearest friend Kevin DuBrow." *

Though DuBrow was open about his substance-abuse issues -- last year's Quiet Riot album was titled "Rehab" and contained the track "Old Habits Die Hard" -- his recent health had been good. Quiet Riot finished a substantial U.S. tour in September.*

Just wanted to wish you all a Wonderful Thanksgiving and encourage you to take some time with your loved ones. We have had a crazy year and things are finally coming together for the new album. Just as things were getting organized San Diego was on fire. Thanks for all your prayers and concerns. Thank you guys for helping spread the word on donations to the Red Cross. That makes us proud.

Columbia/INO Records is excited about the release and has big ideas for us. It's all in God's hands now... We just got thru the album cover process and in the next few weeks new developments will drop.

In the mean time I've been working on some things and I am looking for some unsigned bands for a new record Label I am working on. Any genre is acceptable, as long as you're serious and dedicated musicians that Love what you do. My crew and I will go over all the submissions personally.

Dear International Russell Watson fans. Some of you may be aware that Russell was rushed to hospital recently while making the fininshing touches to his forthcoming album.

Russell's management recently released the following statement:

Russell is presently recovering at home. He had been advised by both ourselves and his record label to delay the scheduled release of his new record. His response was resolute and in his own words "there is absolutely no way that this record is to be delayed". "After what I have just been through and with the near future in doubt it is unclear when and if there will be a good time to release the record. This has led to the decision that I would like the record to go ahead as planned. Although I won't be actively promoting the record it is more for the fans who have waited long enough for this".

Russell's management said 'With it still uncertain of when and if he will have to undergo a period of radiotherapy treatment we cannot make any more plans for the near future'.

Russell has also sent a personal message:

To all my wonderful, caring and loyal fans, you have once again been there for me when it mattered. I don't know where to start or if words can truly expresses the emotions I have felt in the last 3 weeks. Firstly I want to thank every single person who has sent get well wishes and gifts. This show of support and love, along with the love that I have received from my family & friends has really been the difference in helping me get through such a difficult time. There is still uncertainty ahead but with all your support I am sure it will make the journey ahead a little less fraught.
