Dischord Records Offers Free Recording Sessionsby
Punk legend Ian MacKaye's famed Dischord Records is offering DC area bands and artists a chance to record original music in short, five hour recording session for free. Joining with Inner Ear Studios, Ruffian Records and Swim-Two-Birds Studios, the DC Free Recording Project offers bands a chance at creative solitude without the worry of penny pinching in a professional recording studio environment.
The sessions will take place at Inner Ear Studios, used by Fugazi themselves, and will be engineered by Hugh McElroy from Swim-Two-Birds Studio. A few restrictions apply as obviously all bands/projects must be from the DC area and have all original, finished songs.

Bloc Party drummer Matt Tong collapsed in Atlanta following their show. Tong fell ill shortly after the band’s set, and was taken to a local hospital where doctors assured that he is in a comfortable condition and not in any danger.
It is still unclear as to when he will be able to return to drumming. A spokesperson told the BBC that the injury may be due to Matt’s drumming: "Matt is known for his energetic drumming style," she said. "It's not clear at this stage when he will be fit to resume performing." A message on the band’s website asserts that they will not be playing at the Charlotte, NC, Fairfax, VA or either New York shows in the coming week.

JUSTIN MARTIN AND JOHNNY FIASCO PRESENT “OM:WINTER SESSIONS” (2XCD) OUT NOW!
“Like contemporaries Derrick Carter and Mark Farina, Johnny Fiasco is among the fraternity of DJs and producers that fueled house’s infiltration of the fabric of Chicago.” -URB
“Johnny Fiasco is one of the most funky and distinctive house music DJs/producers ever.” -BPM
“Best Breakthrough DJ” -House Music Awards (for Justin Martin)
“NEXT 100” -URB (for Justin Martin)
Featuring chunky, funky, soulful and sensual house hand-designed for your winter time aural pleasure with new and exclusive tracks/remixes from Derrick Carter, Claude VonStroke, King Kooba, Samantha James and More…
Justin Martin
Justin Martin is one of the few house DJ’s that successfully bridges the gap between being commercially successful and staying true to the underground. His sound has been described as both melodic and tough, with releases ranging from the dynamic “Cicada” on Dirtybird to the slamming "Magnificent" remix for Iz and Diz on Om Records. Justin first gained international acclaim for his single, “The Sad Piano,” on Ben Watt's Buzzin' Fly label. Justin continues to develop the SF-based Dirtybird label with his friend, Claude VonStroke,..And Om Records is proud to have him on board!
Johnny Fiasco
Like German engineers craft fine automobiles, Chicago’s DJ’s pride themselves in their house music. Ripping up dance floors since the early 90’s golden era of Derrick Carter and Mark Farina, Johnny Fiasco’s now legendary Thursday nights at Shelter are held in the archives of house music history. Johnny's records are widely regarded as being some of the tightest tracks around. There's a depth, quality and complexity in his productions that make his house stand tall above the rest -- odds are that there's a Fiasco 12-inch sitting in every house aficionado's crate. Handling remix duties for Soulstice’s “Lovely” and releasing a international hit 12” on Om entitled “Things that Go Bump in the Night”, as Darth Vader would say, the force is strong with this one.

Watch the WORLD PREMIERE of Nelly Furtado´s Say It Right music video at MTV.com right NOW.
Showcasing a handful of the top tunes off her 2006 album, Loose, Nelly Furtado shows that she doesn't need to work from the safety of a production studio to bring her songs to life. The set is led off by the playful (and not-so-subtle) innuendo on the hit "Promiscuous" (with Timbaland reprising his vocal role) and then goes into the rock-oriented "Say It Right." Both "Maneater" and "All Good Things" get an acoustic reworking here, making for a great complement to Furtado's varied catalog. (on i Tunes)
