Check out the new Enon e-card
Enon! There you are! Where've you been for the past four years?
You'll be back for good on October 9, you say? You're bringing
us a new record called "Grass Geysers...Carbon Clouds," eh?
And, wait, you're sending us a card? An...e-card? Well! We
certainly can't stay mad at you. Share it with everyone? Ok,
you heard it everyone, straight from the Schmersal's mouth.
Their new e-card is out as is their new video for "Dr. Freeze."
You can see them both here! >

Calexico contribute to new Dyland biopic
By now, you've probably heard at least a little bit about "I'm
Not There," the new Bob Dylan biopic directed by Todd Haynes. Our
dear friends from Calexico show up all over the film's "performed
by" credits. They appear on five different songs and rotate their
collaborations with Iron & Wine, Jim James (My Morning Jacket),
Charlotte Gainsbourg, Roger McGuinn and Willie Nelson. Bravo,
gentlemen. The film is set for release on November 21 and the
soundtrack is available through Sony on October 30. Go check it out
at your local movie theatre and be sure to listen for tumbleweed
and pedal steel in the background.

25th Anniversary video diary is completed
Every week over the last 9 months, we’ve posted a new entry to
the Touch and Go video diary recorded during our 25th anniversary
weekend. And now, as usually happens with all good things, we’ve
come to the end. It was an amazing event, full of incredible
performances by bands we love, and we’ve got this outstanding
collection of videos to look back on and remember the weekend
fondly. A special thank you goes out to our friends at Picture
Show for documenting the festival and putting these clips together.
We couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out.

Quasi add bassist, West Coast dates
There's exciting news coming out of Camp Quasi! Bassist Joanna Bolme,
of Jicks fame, has joined the duo of Janet Weiss and Sam Coomes, making
this duo into a trio and thus furthering the domination of rock 'n'
roll's most intrepid female rhythm section. Sisters are doin' it for
themselves! (with Sam, of course.) The group will be road testing the
lineup on tour this fall with Touch and Go's own Ted Leo and the
Pharmacists! Scope it out and report back!

Bianca Casady's art to be featured at Deitch Projects in NYC
Bianca Casady of CocoRosie will be unveiling a collection of her
artistry in a solo art show at Deitch Projects in New York City
on October 6. The exhibit, entitled Lil’ Girl Slim “Cosmic
Willingness” or Pipe Dreamz "A Revelation," will run through Thursday,
October 19 and will include a performance by CocoRosie.
The exhibit will be a multimedia affair featuring video, works on
paper, sculpture, painting and, of course, performance. Deitch
Projects is located at 18 Wooster Street, New York NY. More
information can be found at www.deitch.com.

Dirty Three update
Movie buffs, maybe you recently noticed Dirty Three's "Lullabye for
Christie" in the new global warming film, "The 11th Hour," narrated by
Titanic-sized hunk Leonardo DiCaprio. It's in theaters now, so check it
out when it swings through your town. More information here.
Oh, and more exciting news from Down Under! Dirty Three member Mick
Turner will be featured in The Artist for Kids' Culture 13th Annual
Art Auction this Tuesday, September 4. The organization's goal is to
"enhance the lives of inner city children by providing financial support
for artistic, educational, and other recreational pursuits," which
we're all for. More of that! Anyway, if you're in the Melbourne area,
check it out here.

NEW RELEASES
------------------------------------------------------------
September 11, 2007 :
Pinback - Autumn of the Seraphs - CD/LP
"Autumn of the Seraphs" pushes forward and upward. Its melodies are
more dynamic and aggressive and pull you back in again and again.
While entirely recorded in the band’s home studio, this record is
tighter, the drumming more immediate and crisp. Those duties were
shared by Mario Rubalcaba (Rocket from the Crypt) and Chris Prescott
(No Knife), and it’s a marked difference from Pinback’s previous
releases. Autumn of the Seraphs is for both rabbits and people, for
good days and for ones where you should have stayed in bed. It’s
Pinback’s best yet, and it’s going to take you over.
------------------------------------------------------------
August 21, 2007 :
Mekons - Natural - CD
"Natural" is a celebration of ritual, paganism and sacrifice - both
ancient and modern and is the Mekons' first CD of new material
since 2002's critically acclaimed OOOH! The Mekons formed in Leeds,
Yorkshire, England in 1977, so by any bugger's reckoning this must
be their 30th anniversary! Essentially the same band that recorded
Mekons classics like Fear & Whiskey, Edge Of The World & Mekons
Rock'n'Roll way back in the '80s, this battle hardened line-up will
tour the States in September and October.

July 10, 2007 :
The For Carnation - Promised Works - CD
Hey, you there -- check out this old stuff by The For Carnation! We
like it pretty well. That is to say, we like it well enough to
repackage the recordings, originally released by Matador as
"Marshmallows" and "Fight Songs," and celebrate them now as
"Promised Works"!!
