Polyphonic Spree Sign To TVT Records

Dallas symphonic pop group The Polyphonic Spree, also known for their love of loose-fitting garb, have signed with TVT Records for their third full-length album, The Fragile Army.

Slated for a June release, the new record will be infused with the group's trademark choir rock melodies and messages of love, life, loss and peace.The new album was recorded at studios in Cannon Falls, Minnesota, and Duncanville, Texas Co-produced by The Paper Chase's John Congleton and The Speekers.

Following up with 2004's We're Heavy, the group's new album has inspired a custome change for the former white-robe enthusiasts. The two-dozen members group members have swapped their cult-like attire in favor of military-style uniforms adorned with peace signs to compliment their new album's anti-war message.

Black Rebel Motorcycle are bringing their baby on tour; their new album Baby 81!

The band will be starting out in Arizona with hirsute Glaswegians The Fratellis, and continuing all over the states until they arrive for a trio of dates in Austin.

Baby 81 is the hotly anticipated follow-up to 2005’s Howl, and will be released on May 1st via RCA Records, and sees the band returning to the fuzz rock of their earlier releases.

Many of the tracks on Computer Incarnations For World Peace originate from a new wave context but there are also pieces by the 1920s born American jazz percussionist RAY BARRETTO as well as the French jazz-fusion violinist JEAN-LUC PONTY. The source of these tracks is very diverse - some have been a regular feature in JAZZANOVA's record box for almost 12 years, other have been rediscovered more recently.Release date March 26, available in our webshop from March 20!

Go “ Remixed follows on from Go “ the very best of Moby, released in November 2006.
There's so much more to Moby than down-tempo ballads and ethereal torch songs.

Though his recent hit album 'Hotel' and the accompanying 'Hotel Ambient' collection showed his softer, more contemplative artistic side, Moby made his name in club-land in the early nineties with rave anthems like 'Feeling So Real' and 'Go', both of which are included in remixed and updated forms here.

It's not hard to see why so many dance producers have clamoured to work with him over the years. After the Twin Peaks-sampling 'Go' was a smash hit in England, Moby helped show the world that rave could made you shiver as much as it made you smile and shake. His first album for Mute, meanwhile, was 'Everything Is Wrong', a cornerstone of mid-nineties electronica that included the haunting rave anthems 'Hymn' and 'Every Time You Touch Me.'

Last autumn, Mute re-released 'Go' with a slew of new mixes, including the two by Trentemo¸ller and Vitalic that are included here. Also featured from his mid-nineties career are acid house re-rubs from CJ Bolland (whose mix of the James Bond Theme is an evil techno stomp) and a shamelessly upbeat Old Skool Moby remix of 'Feeling So Real'.

Featuring an exclusive unreleased remix of 'In My Heart' by Manhattan Clique, 'Go Remixed' also includes rare and recently unearthed classic mixes by Rollo and Sister Bliss, Armand Van Helden and Bob Sinclar.

Musicians Banding Together to Fight Cancer was organized by Butch Vig and other friends of Wally to help him beat throat cancer.

Rough Trade Inks U.S. Distribution Deal

UK indie record label Rough Trade Records has hooked-up with World's Fair Label Group to license and market select titles for North American release. The deal will once again give Rough Trade direct access to the U.S. market which it has been without due to the financial troubles of part owner Sanctuary Records.

Initial Rough Trade/World's Fair offerings include the latest albums from Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker, Brakes, British Sea Power, The Veils and 1990s.

Founded in 1978, Rough Trade has been home to such acts as The Smiths, Belle & Sebastian, The Strokes and The Libertines.

In linking with World's Fair, Rough Trade joins a label group that already includes Bella Union Records, which is home to Midlake.

Music giant issues profit warning Music conglom EMI announced a restructuring program designed to save the company $215 million in incremental annual cost savings. EMI created the plan, which included the dismissal of two top execs, after figuring the company's revenue might decline by as much as 10% from the previous year.

R.E.M., VAN HALEN ENTER HALL OF FAME

Induction ceremony will be held on March 12 In their first year of eligibility, the alternative rock prototype R.E.M. and '80s hard rock progenitors Van Halen, have been elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The two bands will be joined by the long overlooked Patti Smith, girl group the Ronettes and the first rap act in the hall, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.

Hey guys, a lot of cool stuff brewing in Anberlin land. We’ll try and get to it all here.First off, we’re very excited about our new record CITIES! It will be in stores everywhere on Feb. 20, and as sort of a pre-release sneak at the record, we’re offering a digital EP on sale through iTunes starting on Dec.28.

This will have one song from our upcoming new album CITIES called “Godspeed”, a song not included on the record called “The Haunting”, as well as a video snippet on the making-of.

In tour news, we can’t be more excited to finally set out on a long overdue headlining tour. Woohoo!! As some of you already know, we will be heading out with longtime friends Bayside. We’re also excited to bring along the lovely Meg & Dia.

The tour will start Feb.21 in Charlotte, and more dates are being booked as we speak. We will let you know about pre-sale sometime later next week. Can’t wait to see you guys on this tour!

In case some of you noticed, we had some problems with our myspace last week and were unable to add any friends or get into our account in general. Rock photographer Mick Rock is set to exhibit a collection of his work at the Ray-Ban Wayfarer Sessions at the Electric Ballroom (184 Camden High St) in London.
