newssourcedotcom:news:DEAD 60´S

Are you going to Reading or Leeds Festival this year? We've got a great way to make sure you know exactly where your pitch is and to avoid any unnecessary and ever so slightly embarrassing 'case of the wrong tent' experiences.

We're asking you to create your own Dead 60s flags (see picture above/Stand Up video for inspiration) and to raise it high within your pitch. Not only will you look particularly cool, we're also giving away some tickets for a special London gig (to be announced soon) for the best efforts.

Just make sure you take some photos then upload them to the band's official Facebook group or forum on their site. Any other ideas for a Dead 60s-style camp welcome.

See you on site - down the front!

UNIVERSAL TOPS SLOWING BUSINESS

Universal Music Group
continues to dominate the music industry with a 31.59% market share, as the industry battles with a 15% drop in sales from the first half of 2006.

U has been running a rather steady course the past three years: This year's tally is just 0.07% below its midyear share in 2006, which was less than half a percentage point lower than it was a year earlier.

Warner Music Group and EMI showed small increases over last year; WMG rose 0.7% to 20%, while EMI rose to 10.34% from 10%. Sony BMG dipped 1% to 25.23% in the year-to-year comparison. The figures take into account all sales.

When looking at current titles in digital formats, however, the playing field begins to level out. UMG's lead is much slimmer: 25.9% to Sony BMG's 23.7%. Warner Music is right on their heels with 23.3%.

For the first half of 2007, 229.8 million albums were sold, a 15% drop from the 270.6 million sold in 2006, according to Nielsen SoundScan. In 2005, 282.6 million albums were sold in the first six months.

When the sales of singles are totaled and placed in an album format -- every 10 singles equals an album disc -- the count is down 9.2% from 2006.

Digital track sales are up 49% over this time last year, hitting 417.3 million. Last year at the midyear point, 281 million tracks had been sold.

Seminal British rock band The Verve have announced that they've reunited. The original 4-piece line-up of Richard Ashcroft, Nick McCabe, Simon Jones and Pete Salisbury were back recording in a London studio last week, and after a summer break they will return to the studio to complete what will become their 4th album.

Late-era guitarist
Simon Tong will not be a part of the reunion as he is currently busy with The Good The Bad & The Queen. The Verve split in 1999 after releasing Urban Hymns in 1997.

So you want to know more?

NME were quick to pick up on the YYY's forthcoming EP, 'Is Is', and made it their headline news piece in this week's issue.

Down Boy - The Video

All five of the tracks on 'Is Is' were captured live on infra-red film infront of a special female only audience earlier this year. Of these the video for 'Down Boy' is the only one cut to studio sound instead of the live recording. 'Down Boy' will be available to download as a 1trk single from July 2nd, giving you a taste of what awaits when 'IS IS' is released on July 23rd.

Also available to purchase on the 23rd will be the above video to 'Down Boy'.

Forgoing the usual route of just giving press interviews the band have chosen to answer fans questions directly via Drowned In Sound's website.
