Maisonette by Clé & Mike Vamp OUT NOW feat. Steve Bug remix

In order not to confuse their latest recording "Maisonette" - a magic piano House tune - with their techier stuff on Poker Flat, the two Berlin based DJs and producers choose their DJ names for the new release on Dessous.
The original mix of "Maisonette" offers this very special new, yet oldschool house feeling which makes the track sound so classy. With his remix Tuning Spork’s Samim takes the track to another level. The b-side is reserved for the great Steve Bug remix!

V.A. Elaste Vol. 1 - Slow Motion Disco Compolied BY DJ Mooner CPT 239-1 / -2 2LP & CD

The Story of the Italian Cosmic sound in 2 minutes:Italy, 1976: In a luxurious discotheque on the Italian Adriatic coast, every weekend two American DJs called Bob and Tom play records that are just making history in their hometown NYC at the legendary "Loft".

Bob and Tom are resident DJs at "the Baia Degli Angeli", a gigantic club with various floors, fountains, swimming pools and lots of glitz of the Jet set. After the Baia closes due to a drug raid, Daniele Baldelli, inspired by the Baia Sound starts DJing in a new club called Cosmic in Lazise. Not only he´s beat-mixing Funk, Soul and early Disco - Baldelli´s sytle is unique: songs are mixed perfectly in a superslow tempo of 80-105 BPM.

Cosmic is like a wild LSD trip: Afro mixed with German electronics, percussion solos, Bolero with delay effects, 12“s on 33 instead of 45, 70s Krautrock, Industrial... This way of playing records is absolutely new, and Daniele gets quickly famous.

A whole wave of DJs and clubs get inspired by his mixtapes, and soon the whole of northern Italy calls it Cosmic Sound. Unlike Italodisco, Cosmic or Afrofunky " was never exported broadly; it has always stayed a local party phenomenon". That’s one of the reasons why it wasn’t really exploited commercially yet like many other 1980ies genres.

Today producers as Lindstrom, Prins Thomas or DJ Harvey caught the spirit and labels like Gomma, or Eskimo are deeply inspired and now try to create dance tracks that have a similar atmosphere.

"This compilation is a collection of the original music that was actually played at Discoteca Cosmic. It is playful, experimental, harmonic and most of all it is dance music".

Muallem - Mutations 3 CPT 237-1 12

"Move along now, plenty to see here". Some say MUALLEM got Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and his assistant Beaker into the remix lab but that’s simply not true. Much better to give the job to NYC undergound disco grandmaster NICK CHACONA. Shanti Dance“ never sounded more inflammable". Sonic gasoline on the dancefloor.MUALLEM’s edit then morphes back into the original super funky album cut. A slice of ultra-rare 70s space disco from THE DROIDS reworked in London, New York and Munich.

It used to be Lieutenant Uhura’s favourite boogie tune, you know. And it just gets better!

THE LIGHT COMMAND (NYC’s ROY DANK) put a fine layer of ice on the vinyl tracks: His version skids skids around with added attituted and plenty of strings attached. Kinda moody, pushy, Detroit. Super!!! as they call it in Bavaria.

Quotes:

"Nick chacona shows his craftmanship again with this neverending journey of disco, electro and house in such a style it blows everyone away..dirty dirty bassline!" Sasse / Mood Music"

Black Label #11: TJ Kong & Nuno Dos Santos

CPT 231-1 12"

TJ Kong is a new producer and DJ to emerge from the south of the Netherlands. Inspired and influenced by music as diverse as (early) house, minimal, latin, electro, disco and ambient he has been building himself a solid reputation during the last few years. But while he already played a lot of his own tracks, mixes and edits in the club, he had never thought about releasing his music on wax.

Until, early 2006, he played back to back with the talented DJ Nuno Dos Santos (born in Portugal, raised in the Netherlands) who also had been making himself quite a name in The Netherlands: he played every major club, has his own night in 11 (Amsterdam's number one club) and in October 2005 was voted "Talent of the year" by a panel of 50 top names from the Dutch dance scene.

They both immediatley clicked on a personal and musical level and decided to produce some tunes together. A few weeks later the "Circus Bells EP" was finished! And it won't be their last collaboration, a follow-up is already almost finished. So better watch out for TJ Kong & Nuno Dos Santos. SOURCE: COMPOST RECORDS
