Carl Kennedy joins IMD DJs‏

IMD is extremely pleased to announce the arrival of Carl Kennedy for all worldwide bookings excluding America and Australia.

Whether it’s been rocking Centro Fly in New York, Pacha in Ibiza or the massive Future Music Festival in Australia, the DJ who Pete Tong once named as “ of the one world’s best undiscovered DJs”, has an uncanny knack for delivering in spectacular fashion.

His sound could be described as an expert blend of tribal, tech, soul and funk that all add up, to what is essentially, just damn fine House music!

Having made the bold move of relocating to the US aged 20, Carl spent the formative years of his DJ career in the House music hotbed that is New York, playing at the world-famous Centro-Fly alongside the likes of The Chemical Brothers, Erick Morillo and his DJ hero Roger Sanchez. It was 2003 in the ‘Big Apple’ where Carl first made his considerable presence felt back over in the UK with a sublime guest mix for Pete Tong’s ‘Essential Selection’ show which was broadcast live from Centro-Fly. An incredible first few years in the US was capped with a nomination for ‘Best Breakthrough DJ’ at the Dancestar Awards, the US’s biggest electronic music prizes.

In addition to touring extensively throughout the globe Carl could perhaps be considered most famed for his show-stopping performances in his ‘second-homeAustralia where he spends up to six months of his year. He mixed the critically acclaimed ‘OneLove vol. 2compilation alongside local hero Grant Smillie (TV Rock) back in 2005 and held an enviable residency at Sydney’s premier night-spot Famous.

Having never relied solely on his DJ’ing talent, Carl has produced numerous killer singles that have been championed by DJ’s across the board. ‘The Love You Bring Me’ was released through Roger Sanchez’s Stealth imprint in 2004 and received the dual honour of being named an ‘Essential New Tune’ on Pete Tong’s Radio 1 show and ‘Tune of The Month’ in his long-running Mixmag column. Toolroom Records picked up Carl’s 2005 smash ‘Right Before My Eyes’ before heavyweight Ministry of Sound off-shoot label Data Records moved in and gave the track a full release.

In 2007 Carl endeavoured to begin his Wasted Youth Music label and released soulful anthem Ride The Storm’ (also released on Cr2) which was widely considered to be one of the biggest records of the WMC and the Ibiza summer season.

2008, and Carl shows absolutely no sign of slowing down any time soon. In February he mixed the accompanying album for the Australian Future Music festival along with Robbie Rivera. His Wasted Youth label scored a global smash with Marco Demark’s ‘Tiny Dancer’ which was supported across the board by the likes of Pete Tong (who named it as an Essential New Tune), Erick Morillo and Tiesto and achieved a number #1 slot on DMC’s Mainstream and Club charts, Music Weeks’s Club and Pop charts and Italy’s national chart.

After recently headlining Romania’s biggest festivalLiberty Parade’ and rocking the Future Music Festival in Australia (which was attended by over 100,000 people) Carl is currently locked down in the studio in preparation for an imminent relocation back to UK, ready to administer a taste of what crowds, the world-over have been flocking to experience.
