Breakdancing in the late 80’s gave way to house
in the 90’s; he was often
encircled by spectators, locked in epic battles at
places such as Limelight, Tunnel, and Factory
Bar.
But today’s vision focuses on getting others
moving: note new track “A Million,” which
sprang from the 1200 Traxx label
(Derrick Carter, DJ Sneak, Sonny Fodera) and
shot into Traxsource’s Top 100 Jackin’
House Tracks.
Luminaries such as Junior Sanchez, Harry
Romero, The Walk, and RogerSeventytwo
(TWR72) have lined up to show support for
“A Million.”
In recognition of his ascent, Blaqwell was
recently interviewed by Jamie Van Goulden,
host of Panama City’s top dance radio show The
Weekend Has Landed.
Recent guests have included Junior Sanchez,
Jose Nunez, and Stonebridge. Even more
impressively, Blaqwell has shared the stage
with a diverse collection of artists; past cohorts
include Alexander Technique, Tommie Sunshine,
Junior Sanchez and The Crystal Method just to
name a few.
When asked to document his ongoing projects,
Blaqwell foams at the mouth. He spouts off
about: a Latin disco-house track with tweaked
salsa horns; a Jackin tech-house frenzy that
flips a familiar hip-hop sample.
When forced to take a deep breath and highlight
just one record, he points to “Reach”—an
energetic, jazzy house offering. “Reach” is out
now on Super Lemon Records!
Apparently, Blaqwell might have trouble
focusing after all. Old habits do die hard.
