Receiving nominations for best Spanish DJ and tech-house producer by DJ1 and Deejay magazines, Sergio Fernandez debuts on Leaders Of The New School with a rip roar of an EP in ‘Jam Sax’.

Opening the EP, ‘Jam Sax’ is a vibrant slice of pure housey goodness. Based on pulsating grooves that march merrily alongside a warm undertone, this track makes no excuses for being unashamedly jolly.

The breakdown sees the introduction of a vivacious piano melody that sets the foundation for a frisky sax loop that oozes energy before dropping back into those marching grooves. A jazzy little number that can’t help but leave you with a smile on your face.

Game Over’ takes things a little deeper on more of a tech-house vibe. Crisp beats and a driving bass shift stealthily below pumping stabs that combine with sneaky vocal uhh’s to create a laid-back track perfect for any early DJ set, after party, or just listening to whilst sipping margaritas by the pool.

A great debut from Sergio Fernandez on Leaders Of The New School that looks set to establish him as a true talent in house music in 2010.

[PRESS QUOTES]:

Rolling Stone: "the band has returned full-force to the expansive synth work that made them underground darlings. Absorbing the ethereal atmosphere of Giorgio Moroderʼs Cat People soundtrack and the skeletal fuzz-bluster of Suicideʼs 1977 melancholy synth-punk blueprint “Cheree,” Head First has an edge thatʼs softer, warmer and dreamier..."

Pitchfork: "Jubilant"

MOJO: “Alison and Will go Stadium. An album of classic pop as evidenced by Rocket, Believer, Alive and I Wanna Life.”

Q: “Rocket is a euphoric revenge fantasy that erupts into glittering Mediterranean disco, Dreaming invokes both Discovery-era Daft Punk and late-period Fleetwood Mac, while the multi-tracked vocals and gleeful pianos of the title track evoke a neon-lit 21st-century ABBA.”

Popjustice: “Something of a triumph all round and anybody who attempts to convince you otherwise is a fool of epic proportions."

Time Out London: “Quite unlike anything Goldfrapp have done so far. Five LPs on and not only relevant, but also revitalised. Into the neverending future a gilded Goldfrapp fly.”
