What happens you get a Mexican from a thrash-metal band to play Super Nintendo with a Mexican from an avante-garde group who likes classical music? If you’re lucky they decide to join forces and start a band. Our dancing shoes are going nuts for the electronic laced “Arriba Dicembre”, with its ring-tone beats, zaps, female whispers, and fuzzed-out synths. But what really sold us is when, in mid-song, a deep male voice rolls off something seductive in Italian.

Koushik – Lying In the Sun

+Koushik makes layered, laid-back psychedelic pop with slight hip-hop instrumentation, like breakbeats drenched in reverb. Makes for perfect summer music, and sounds like something the main character in The Wackness would totally listen to on his Walkman during a climactic, coming-of-age scene. “Lying in the Sun” is a track off of Koushik’s upcoming record Out My Window, which is bound to fill that +Four Tet/ +Caribou shaped hole in our collective hearts once it drops in September.
