Gnarls, Death Cab, Nominated for Grammy Awards
It’s Grammy Nomination day, and if you are too confused/bored by the 104 categories and endless subcategories to care, Filter’s got you all hooked up with our handy guide to the nominations for the artists you love. The big winner in the nominations was Gnarls Barkley with "Crazy" shortlisted as Song Of The Year, St Elsewhere as Album Of The Year and Best Alternative Album, and the duo were nominated for Best Urban/Alternative Performance.
Dangermouse was also honored with a nomination for Producer of the Year for his work on both the Gnarls record and the Rapture’s Pieces Of The People We Love.
Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal featured nods to Death Cab For Cutie’s "I Will Follow You Into The Dark," and Keane’s "Is It Any Wonder?" while Goldfrapp’s “Oh La La” was nominated for Best Dance Recording.
Beck faces some stiff competition for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance from Bob Dylan, John Mayer, Neil Young, and Tom Petty, and Wolfmother’s "Woman" looks set to rock the Best Hard Rock Performance.
Best Alternative Music Album is anyone's game with the Arctic Monkeys, the Flaming Lips, Gnarls Barkley, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Thom Yorke all nominated, but the Arctic Monkeys and the Flaming Lips will be duking it out with perennial nominee
Joe Satriani for Best Rock Instrumental Performance; their songs "Chun Li's Flying Bird Kick," and "The Wizard Turns On..." were both nominated.
In the Rap/Urban categories, Lupe Fiasco’s "Kick Push" was nominated for Best Rap Solo Performance and Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor got the nod for Best Rap Album, but is up against The Roots Game Theory.
